The most Important Lesson in University
Since I was born, I have never thought that I would study in the southern part of Taiwan and live outside without my family. I am a very independent girl and even cried for feeling homesick on graduation trip in junior high school. Due to extremely great relationship with my parents, I am really afraid of leaving home to study in university. However, I really appreciate this opportunity that I can leave home and live alone now. I indeed learn a lot of in these two years.
To cherish my family is the most important lesson I learn in university. Before entering the university, I took my parents’ love for granted and just considered that all parents’ in the world will treat their children like my parents. Nevertheless, until I met so many people from different parts of Taiwan with different living background, I learn that I should cherish what I have owned. My dad always drove me from Taipei to Chiayi several times and even came from Taipei to Chiayi just for taking me back to Taipei for a weekend. Additionally, they always prepared anything I need to live outside and asked me about my school life every day. I clearly remember what my mom said to me “You should hang out with your friends on weekends. Don’t always come back home!” The word seems to be normal, but what you don’t know is that my parents and my sister won’t have a trip, go to expensive restaurants and even do something to enjoy the life without me. However, they just ask me to spend their money and have fun to explore southern part of Taiwan with my friends. I am not showing off for talking about this. Instead, I just want to explain that the moment dawns to me that they love me a lot. Actually, it’s beyond description to present their love and my feelings toward them.

Although studying and living alone in Chiayi without my family, I know my heart is not alone. I learn to appreciate more about their dedication toward me and cherish what I have owned. The most important is that I try to express my appreciation and love toward them rather than doing nothing. I will do more things and help them more when I am at home. Moreover, I will seize each opportunity and every moment when I go back to Taipei and stay by their sides. The importance of this relationship is what I never recognize before entering university. It’s the most valuable lesson I select in university.
