I bet most of people might be confused about the term: SAIV. SAIV is the abbreviation of Student Ambassador of International Visitors belonging to Office of International Affair (OIA) in my university. SAIV group is made up by 30 or so Taiwanese and international students. In order to be a professional ambassador, each week, we will have some English-taught courses to cultivate our abilities such as master of ceremony, host of activities, make-up learning and so on. Holding activities for foreign students, cultural exchanges, English campus tour, learning partner and pick-up are our work. We are also devoted to enhance the relationship between Taiwan’s students in CCU and foreign students.

Before entering CCU, I long for joining this kind of group. Using English to introduce campus, spending time with international students and doing cultural exchanges are what I really want to do in my university life. Luckily, I was admitted to be a member of the group after going through the CV verification and interview process. Without a doubt, I really had a great time in SAIV during my freshman year. I was the host on Christmas party and the activity conductor of welcome reception. I met so many international students on several activities and even hung out with them to explore and share Taiwan. In my freshman year, I buried myself in SAIV and enjoy every moment of cultivating the soft skills and getting along with international students. SAIV is out of this world! Thus, I made up my mind to keep throwing myself into this group in my sophomore year.

The second year of my SAIV’s life is challenging. I become the president of the group and lead the staff to work the group. I need to negotiate innumerable affairs with the OIA staff and communicate with different people to deal with the affairs. I learn to promote our group, recruit the members with potential ability and be professional as the representative of SAIV. This year is totally different from my first year in the group because I should be responsible for so many people, affairs and even whole group. Exceptionally, I have so many meetings with the staff and I have to spend time organizing the group. Although it’s extremely busy in my sophomore year, I cultivate the soft skill of time management, emotion management and several skills that gradually reshape me. Overall, it’s quite fatiguing, but it is worthy and I enjoy every moment.

Actually, I don’t know whether I will keep staying in the group in my junior year due to other life plan. However, what I learn and the skills I own in the group are precious. All the memory will be well imprinted on my brain in my life. I extremely love this group that always gives, teaches and accompanies me a lot.
